What is Ajo savings?
In a rotating ajo group, members pay an agreed amount on a schedule. Each round's contributions go to one member, and the turn moves through the group. Related traditions include esusu, adashe, osusu and susu, although the exact arrangement can vary. A digital app adds records and coordination to that agreement.
The Central Bank of Nigeria's savings explainer includes esusu and adashe among contribution-based ways people save. For a numerical example of rotation, read how esusu works.
What should an Ajo app help you do?
- See the agreement: contribution amount, frequency, participants and payout order should be clear before the cycle begins.
- Check each contribution: members need to distinguish a payment that someone reports from a payment that has been confirmed.
- Follow payout turns: receiving a pot does not end a member's obligation to contribute in later rounds.
- Understand the cost: compare subscription, operator, transaction and payment-processing charges that apply to your chosen setup.
- Resolve mistakes: look for accessible support and records you can refer to when a payment is disputed.
Digital ledger or automated contributions?
A ledger records contributions that your group handles outside the app. That is useful when your circle already has a payment routine and needs a shared record. A ledger entry by itself is not proof that a bank transfer arrived; the organiser still needs to confirm receipt.
With automated collections, members complete the required payment setup before scheduled collection can work. A failed payment still needs attention. Pick the arrangement your group can follow consistently and explain it to every member.
How to move your existing Ajo group online
- Agree the current position together: who has contributed, who has collected and what is still outstanding.
- Choose a clear starting point for the digital record. Avoid recording an old payment as a new collection.
- Create or migrate your circle in My Ajo App, then invite the correct members.
- Review the contribution amount, schedule and payout turns with the group.
- Complete any identity or payment requirements shown in the app before starting collections.
What My Ajo App offers
My Ajo App supports creating and managing savings circles, inviting members, tracking manual contributions, setting up automated payments and following payout schedules. It is available on the web, Android and iOS. Existing groups can use the migration flow to bring their circle records into the app.
Review the fees shown for your setup before committing. Downloading an app and running a circle are different things; a free download does not mean every service is free. You can read the terms and privacy policy before signing up.
Does an app guarantee my payout?
No. Clear records and reminders help a group coordinate, but members can still miss contributions. My Ajo App is a savings-circle management tool, not a bank or a promise of investment returns. Read the guide to Ajo risks and discuss missed-payment rules before joining.
